Impact assessment of state-independent expert group on SDGs and/or post-Aichi targets

WTO founds an expert group that evaluates the impact of a trade agreement/policy on biodiversity. It does so by assessing the compatibility of the policy/agreement with the SDGs and/or post-Aichi targets. The expert group has the right to comment on any trade agreement/policy that is being discussed nationally/multilaterally/internationally. The expert group should establish pre-arbitration procedures and tools to mitigate arbitration and disputes on issues linked to biodiversity and trade. The expert group should also be part of the formal assessment in TBT discussions at the arbitration court. The group of experts could be part of or appointed by IPBES to guarantee scientific quality of the assessment.
