That' s a wrap!

On 25 October 2018, the Policy Cooking Day in Bern concluded the workshop series taking on the biodiversity challenge. Similar to all previous Policy Cooking Days, this event brought together interesting and creative people with different backgrounds to collectively tackle this pressing issue.

Dr. Siliva Zingg (University of Bern), Dr. Elisabeth Bürgi (University of Bern) and Thomas Wirth (WWF) gave us inputs on the status quo of the (non-)existing attempts of conserving biodiversity in the respective fields of development cooperation, trade and global governance. We then outlined the specific issues that are curbing effective measures for biodiversity protection before engaging in a discussion about potential solutions.

The diverse mix of participants consisting of students, professors, administration officers and generally interested people generated creative ideas. This is the outcome:

We are not done yet!

Until mid-November all authors and teams can refine and work on their ideas. We invite the whole crowd to comment on ideas and share their inputs. This process is set to be inclusive and we believe diversity is the key!

What is next:

On 14 November 2018, all ideas are open for crowd voting. The crowd pre-selects the best 15 ideas that will then be evaluated by an already standing jury. The best ideas will be then developed to full-length policy advice papers, referred to as "policy recipes". foraus will then not only publish those recipes but also facilitate impact events for them. Your ideas deserve to be heard!

This project is quite ambitious - by facilitating bottom-up participation we intend to generate political impact! Thank you for being part of it!
